Privacy Policy.
How Zapsam Mobility Technologies Private Limited collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data when you use the Zapsam platform as a rider or a partner.
On this page
1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to Zapsam, the consumer-facing mobility platform owned and operated by Zapsam Mobility Technologies Private Limited ("Zapsam", "we", "us", "our"), including this website (zapsam.com), the Zapsam rider app, and the Zapsam partner app (collectively, the "Platform"). It explains what personal data we collect from riders and partners, why we collect it, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. Information we collect
Depending on whether you use Zapsam as a rider or a partner, we may collect:
- Account information — name, phone number, email address, and a password or authentication credential.
- Identity and verification information (partners) — driving licence, vehicle registration, identity proof, and other documents required to onboard and verify partners, as applicable.
- Location information — precise or approximate device location while using the app, to enable pickup, drop-off, live tracking, and dispatch.
- Trip information — pickup and drop locations, route, distance, duration, fare, and trip status.
- Payment information — details necessary to process fares, such as transaction identifiers from our payment gateway partner(s). See Section 5.
- Communications — messages sent through in-app support, the contact form on this website, WhatsApp, or email, including the content of those messages.
- Device and usage information — device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and general usage/log data collected automatically for security and performance purposes.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and manage rider and partner accounts.
- Match riders with available partners and facilitate trips through our dispatch system.
- Calculate fares and process payments.
- Verify partner identity and eligibility to operate on the Platform.
- Provide customer support and respond to queries or complaints.
- Maintain safety and trust, including investigating incidents reported by riders or partners.
- Improve and maintain the reliability of the Platform.
- Comply with applicable law, regulation, or lawful requests from government or law enforcement authorities.
4. How information is shared
We do not sell personal data. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Between riders and partners — to facilitate a trip, a rider's pickup location and, where relevant, contact details may be shared with the assigned partner, and vice versa.
- Service providers — with vendors who support our operations, such as cloud hosting, SMS/communication providers, and payment gateway providers, solely to help us operate the Platform.
- Legal and safety reasons — where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Zapsam, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
5. Payment information
Fares and any other payments made through the Platform are processed through a third-party, PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. Zapsam does not store full card numbers, UPI PINs, or net-banking credentials on its own servers — these are handled directly by our payment gateway partner in accordance with their own security standards and applicable RBI guidelines. See our Payments page for more detail.
6. Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Platform, comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by data type; account and trip records are retained for the duration required under applicable Indian law, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights and choices
You may:
- Request access to, or a copy of, the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to legal or regulatory retention requirements.
- Withdraw consent for optional data uses, such as marketing communications, at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@zapsam.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe as required by applicable law.
9. Children's privacy
The Platform is intended for use by individuals who meet the minimum age requirement under applicable law to enter into a binding agreement in India. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
